Internship Closing Ceremony

Today, twenty-one, under-represented local high school students will display their summer projects as a culmination to three summer internships hosted by STEMcx and its partners.

The students will also receive a combined $25,000 in stipends for their work this summer. Topic areas included Computer Coding, Environmental Justice, and Bioethics. The sponsors of the internships - BlueVoyant, BGE and Kaiser Permanente - realize that investing in these talented students is the best way to assure a more diverse STEM workforce in the future.

Over the course of the summer, students attended lectures, went on field trips, took part in lab experiments, completed research and data analysis, read books, participated in workshops, and learned from guest speakers. As they dove deeper into their areas of interest, each student developed a project with the support of our STEMcx team and their partners.

Transforming Lives Community Development Corporation and STEMcx are proud to be a part of that change. At STEMcx, we realize the importance of providing bright young minds with real world opportunities. Internships like these offer minority students first-hand experiences in STEM fields, as well as valuable networking opportunities. These programs will help to diversity and change the face of our national STEM workforce.
